Announcement
Sept 16, 2009
Since the official promotional period of the current legislative assembly election started, it was found that some of the Civil Watch’s posters on the government designated poster boards were intentionally torn off. This situation has persisted even after the torn posters were replaced. We have immediately notified the Legislative Assembly Election Commission regarding this matter. However, it is disappointing to see the situation remains unresolved.
We, Civil Watch, believe that the government designated posters and poster boards are public properties and should be protected by the corresponding government bodies. Unfortunately, the Legislative Assembly Election Commission has not taken any actions to prevent our posters (and replaced posters) from being torn off again. As a result, the Commission’s inaction served as a passive encouragement to those prohibited behaviours. It is also a sign of failure in control, accountability, and public properties protection among government bodies.
By participating in the current legislative assembly election, Civil Watch wants to change the deep-rooted bad moral in the election. Most importantly, Civil Watch aims to represent a voice of diversity, a voice that truly belongs to Macau citizens, in the Legislative Assembly. Civil Watch aspires to monitor the government closely, and thereby develops the society with fairness and justice. The essence of an election is the inclusion of different voices – voices from different classes in the society. Hence, we strongly urge the voters to pick a group that could truly represent your voice. Vote with integrity on September 20th!
